May 2nd, 2026

The last time the Bulldogs baseball team lost was on April 10th at the Missouri River Classic in Jefferson City. The Timberland Wolves out of Wentzville, put up 15 runs on 12 hits and dominated the Bulldogs in a 15-3 beatdown.

That was the 3rd tough error prone loss in a row on that weekend dropping them to 8-7 at that point of the season. The senior laden Bulldogs were not happy and something needed to change.

The change came in the way of execution and focus. The way they had shown during stretches of play and the way they had expected to play.

Throwing strikes early. A locked-in defense that doesn’t hurt themselves. Patience at the plate and trusting their swing. Aggressive but smart base running.

That is baseball. The Bulldogs have been playing it at a high level and it was on fully display on a crisp spring Saturday morning at FCNB field as the Bulldogs got revenge taking down Timberland 7-1 in a statement win.

Bulldogs celebrating their 10th win in a row!

Putting it All Together

It was a spring Saturday morning that had a coolness in the air as a large crowd gathered at the field to watch the Bulldogs, owners of a 9 game win streak, take on the Timberland Wolves who was the last team to beat the Dawgs.

The crowd was rewarded with a dominant performance by the Bulldogs - on the mound, in the field and at the plate. The Bulldogs were able to manufacture runs by advancing runners through sacrifices, timely hitting and smart base running.

Senior Ruger Covey had a gutsy performance on the mound. Only giving up 3 hits over 6 innings, the lefty battled out of jams and trusted his defense to perform.

Senior right fielder Jack Mrozowicz came on to close out the game in the top of the 7th, bringing the heat to fan two in the hitless inning securing the 10th win in a row as the Bulldogs moved to 18-7 on the season.

Strike out looking to finish the game.

Coach Ken Hohe was very please with another strong pitching performance. “Ruger continued his great pitching performances with another gem on Saturday. To pitch at 11 a.m. after getting home after 11 p.m. the night before, on Prom Day, he was excellent. Jack came in and was dominant out of the pen.”

The Bulldogs were led in hitting by senior Jenson Thomas who went 3 for 3 driving in two runs. Junior Blaine Sbabo continues his hot showing at the plate going 2 for 3 with two doubles.

The Bulldog bats put up 5 doubles on the night, putting runners into scoring position.

Wrap Up

Coach Hohe heaped praise on RHS Alum and current Assistant Coach Zach Studdard for his work with the pitching staff.  “He has a great feel for all of our pitchers and their strengths and has done a great job of putting every guy in a position to be successful with every batter.”

“Our biggest key during this win streak has been our pitchers and their abilities to keep the opponents off the bases.  Coach Studdard is directly responsible for our success.”

The Bulldogs have a busy upcoming week as the Varsity team will have 5 games, 4 of which are against teams with winning records. The lone team without a winning record, Battle has a powerhouse pitcher going to Tennessee.

Blaine Sbabo talking about the win.

Coach Hohe knows that this will be a big week as the season winds down and districts are on the horizon. “We have a big stretch of games this week with two road games on Monday and Tuesday, Senior Night on Thursday, and the JV Tourney in Owensville on Friday and Saturday. Plus a Varsity double header at home on Saturday.  Going to see how our pitching depth holds up.”
