Errors Bite the Bulldogs at Missouri River Festival

It was 4 games in 3 days for the Bulldog Baseball team after playing 2 games earlier in the week. The Bulldogs amassed 17 errors in the first 3 games of the festival going 0-3 while giving up 33 runs.
But the Bulldogs salvaged the weekend with a 10-0 shutout of St. Charles West on Saturday, finishing 1-3 for the weekend and now sitting at 9-7 overall.
Good Competition, Good Moments
The Bulldogs rolled into the Missouri River Festival with an 8-3 record and high hopes based upon how they have competed all season. A string of errors in the first three games were too much to overcome, despite matching the hits of their competition.
Coach Hohe, despite what one would assume to be frustration, kept a positive outlook upon having a couple of days to reflect. “The results were not what we wanted but we are learning about our team and competing with everyone. We are 9-7 and I think the only game that has gotten away from us is the Timberland game.”
The Bulldogs have been in every other game, with opportunities to take the lead, and the potential to come out on top. Right now the focus in on getting the pieces aligned and putting together the complete game.
“When we put all phases of the game (pitching, defense, hitting, base-running) together we can be very dangerous.”
Blair Oaks
Hits were hard to come by in this game. The Bulldogs only managed 3 hits on the day but the Bulldog pitching staff held Blair Oaks to only 2 hits.
It was the 6 errors that would finish off the Bulldogs as only 1 of the 7 runs given up was earned.
It was a rough first inning for Jr. Blaine Sbabo as Blair Oaks plated 3 to take a 3 to 1 lead. But he battled throughout his 4 innings and the Bulldogs took the lead 5-4 heading into the bottom of the 6th before falling 5 o 7.
Coach Hohe pointed out that Junior Chase Hudson had a nice 2 innings in relief. He also wanted to share that Chase won State in the Masonry Contest.
The Bulldogs are more than athletes!
Timberland
BWhen I hear the name Timberland it brings up nostalgic nicknames of major league slugging lineups of the past. Appropriate for this high school team as they went for 15 runs on 12 hits.
Junior Kyllian Ace pitched 2 strong innings of relief against Timberland and Coach Hohe has been impressed with his progress. “Kyllian shows the promise he has on the hill for the future.”
