Optimist Girls Basketball Tips-Off Season with Exciting Opening Weekend

Optimist Girls Basketball kicked off its first weekend of games on Saturday, January 31, launching another exciting season for girls in 1st through 7th grade. The opening day featured competitive matchups, great sportsmanship, and strong performances across all divisions.
5th - 7th Grade Division
In the 5th–7th grade division, Team Pfeifer earned a win over Team McFarland. Jade Hamby led the scoring effort for Team Pfeifer, while Kaitlyn Holt was the top scorer for Team McFarland.
In another close contest, Team Voight edged out Team Daugherty in a hard-fought game. Issy Kingsley led the way for Team Voight, and Nora Daugherty was the leading scorer for Team Daugherty.
1st - 4th Grade Division
Action was just as exciting in the 1st–4th grade division. Team Goad defeated Team Spencer in a tight matchup, with Ally Spencer leading the scoring. Team Pfeifer also came away with a win over Team Spencer, led by top scorers Elsie Fredendall and Willow Cremer. DaNova Tyson and Cheyenne Hyatt provided strong leadership for their team throughout the game.
Overall, it was a great day of basketball and a fantastic start to the season. The Optimist Girls Basketball program was grateful to have plenty of volunteer referees, scorekeepers, and clock workers whose support helped make the day run smoothly.

8:00am: 5th - 7th Division Team Pfeifer vs Team Voight
9:00am: 5th - 7th Division Team McFarland vs Team Daugherty
10:30am: 1st - 4th Division Team Pfeifer vs Team Goad
11:30am: 1st - 4th Division Team Goad vs Team Spencer

The Optimist Club is proud to offer this free program for girls in 1st through 7th grades from Rolla and the surround communities. Besides girls from the Rolla community, we also have players from Newburg, St. James, Vienna and Edgar Springs.
