Bulldog Baseball Routs the Pacific Indians, 8-1

It was a game scheduled for earlier in the season, but the spring weather had other plans. The Bulldogs game at Pacific was rescheduled for Tuesday, April 7th and this time mother nature gave it her blessing.
The Bulldog bats were feeling loose as they scored 8 runs on 11 hits. The Bulldogs put up 3 runs in both the top fo the 2nd and 3rd innings to put pressure on the Pacific Indians.
Rolla got on the scoreboard first when senior Logan Jenkins hit a sacrifice fly, scoring senior Jenson Thomas who had singled earlier. Senior Colton Petersmith drove in the other two runs on a 2 out single to right field. The Husker signee went 2 for 4 on the night with 3 RBIs.
Senior right hand hurler, Landon Brown recorded the win as he gave up a single run off of 2 hits through 4 innings.
Coach Ken Hohe was pleased with the Bulldogs pitching performance on the mound. “Landon did a good job of keeping Pacific off the board in the 1st. Once we put 3 on them he pitched with a little more freedom and controlled their bats.”
Senior lefty Ruger Covey came on in relief and pitched 3 scoreless innings. “Ruger did an excellent job of coming in and throwing strikes.”
Covey also was a terror at the plate going 3 for 4 and scoring twice. “Offensively Ruger had a great game and showcased all of his abilities and Logan Jenkins hit the ball hard 3 times with 2 sack flies and a double”
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will be heading up to the Jefferson City area to take part in the Missouri River Festival. It is a showcase of games in the area on Thursday through Saturday bringing in top talent from across the state.
When asked what he needs from the Bulldogs to have success with 4 games over 3 days after playing 2 already in the week, Coach Hohe focused on pitching. “We need our pitching to step it up this week as we have 4 quality opponents in 3 days coming up and this will give guys an opportunity to show what they can do on the mound.”
Kyllian Ace Was an Ace on the Mound
Sophomore right hander Kyllian Ace had a dominant performance on the bump for the Bulldogs giving up one run on one hit over 5 innings. Meanwhile Ace struck out 9 batters and only giving up 2 walks.
The JV Bulldogs offense was extremely potent in two innings where the knocks were contagious. Bulldogs scored 6 runs in the 2nd and 5 more runs in the 5th accounting for all of the Bulldogs scores.
Ace helped his own cause by going 3 for 4 at the plate and Freshman catcher Gibson Hohe went 2 for 2 and drove in a run. Sophomores Connor Hirtz, Becket Lukefahr, Charlie Voigt, and Rodrick Perry each drove in 2 runs while going 1 for 2 at the plate.
