Petersmith Goes Deep Twice to Power the Bulldogs

Through the first 18 games of the season, the Rolla Bulldogs have failed to hit a home run. That changed on the second pitch of the game Wednesday night at Hillcrest, when senior lead-off hitter Colton Petersmith pulled one over the right field fence.
But Petersmith, the Nebraska signee, wasn’t done yet. In the top of the 6th with the Bulldogs leading the Hornets 4-1 and facing 1 out with runners on 1st and 3rd, Petersmith pulled another one over the right field putting the Bulldogs up 7-1.
While Petersmith was delivering bombs, senior lefty Ruger Covey was on the mound sending in strategic missiles as he pitched a complete game 4 hitter, striking out 5 and only walking one batter.
Petersmith finished the game going 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs. Senior Jack Mrozowicz continued his hot play at the plate as he went 2 for 4 with two doubles.
Junior Varsity
The junior varsity Bulldogs picked up where the varsity left off as they defeated the Hillcrest JV, 12-1. Junior Zyair McWilliams went yard for the Bulldogs driving in 4 runs on 2 hits in the 3 inning game.
As a team the Bulldogs had an APB put out on them as they stole 9 bases in those 3 innings. They had plenty of opportunity to steal as they were able to get runners on base from 7 hits and took advantage of 10 walks by the Hillcrest JV pitchers
Freshmen Ty Jenkins and Westin Richards controlled the mound giving up 1 hit, 1 run and fanning 5 over 3 innings. Jenkins recorded the win.
