Bulldogs Use Strong Performance in Field and at the Plate in Win over Washington

Bulldogs led from start to finish with a dominant performance on the day taking down the Washington Blue Jays, 8-2.. A big five run 6th inning sealed the deal for the Bulldogs.

It was a big day on the bump for the Angelo State signee, senior Jenson Thomas. He got the win giving up just four hits over six innings resulting in two runs with only one being earned. Thomas struck out six.

Coach Ken Hohe was pleased with the performance by his ace. “Jenson was dominant. From his 9-pitch 1st inning until the 6th where he struck out 2 he was in command.”

Chase Hudson came on in relief in the last inning striking out two.

Offensively, Jack Mrozowicz had a productive night for the Bulldogs. The Missouri S&T signee went 3 for 3 at the plate, scored twice and got an RBI. Logan Jenkins went 2 for 2 and a sacrifice fly while driving in two runs. Thomas and senior Riker Snodgrass, the Illinois College signee, both had two RBIs as well.

The Bulldog offense was steady all night and is what Coach Hohe is expecting. “We did a great job offensively of manufacturing runs - scoring single runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th, and then blowing it open with a 5-run 6th.”

Our lineup is getting deeper every game with more and more guys being productive. Jack had a tremendous game offensively with several hits and Chase Williams had 3 walks and Logan Jenkins had 2 hits, a sac fly & 2 RBI.”

The Bulldogs have won their last games averaging over 9 runs. They sit at 11-7 overall with nearly two-thirds of the season behind them. Coach Hohe knows that going forward, it’s all about fine tuning their play in preparation for the post season. “Next week is an important week as we have a chance to build some momentum if our pitchers throw strikes.”

The JV contest ends in a 2-2 tie that was called off afte 2 and a half innings.
