Bulldogs Find Success at Licklider Relays

The annual Licklider Relays held at Jefferson City High School is one of the meets that brings new experiences for the track team. Highlighting the events are the medley relays and the pentathlon both of which resulted in medals for the Bulldogs squad.
While stormy weather had rolled through the area the night before and the damp cool morning left people wondering about the prospects of the event, the sun came and made for a great day of competition.
The track team had a strong showing with the Boys finishing 4th out of 17 teams while the girls finished 9th out of 15 teams. Rolla had eight medal finishes and 18 PRs set on the day.
Tyeson Elliott finished with the Gold in High Jump while also seeing a personal record.
The Distance Medley Relay (DMR) is a four leg relay of different distances. It starts with an 800m run, the 2nd leg is a 400m sprint, the 3rd leg is the 1200m run and then the anchor relay runs 1600m.
Both the boys and girls DMR Relays medaled with the boys team of Matthew Banta, Jaxton Bennett, Scott Williams and David Fox finishing 2nd. The girls relay team of Alana Mickem, Olivia Kuchar, Adalee Gray, and Sophie Blakely finished with 3rd.
The pentathlon was a new event for the team and both of the Rolla participants, senior Bridgette Starns and sophomore Cruz Wilkins, won 2nd in the event. The pentathlon consists of five events allowing athletes to showcase their versatility of speed, strength and athleticism.
The contest includes a 100m spring, shot put, long jump, high jump and an 800m run.
