The Spring Break for Rolla High School began with the open Tri-Meet in Jefferson City and finished up on Saturday the 28th at the highly competitive Festus McCullough-Douglass Invitational.

This meet featured public and private school programs from Southeast Missouri, the St. Louis metro area, as well as schools from Columbia and Kansas City areas. If the first meet allowed the Bulldogs to test the waters, this second meet was getting pushed into the deep end.

The First Big Meet

To understand how competitive the field was for the Festus Invitational, the Boys team finished 20th out of 38 teams and did not have a single athlete finish with a medal.

Overall 9 Bulldog and Lady Bulldog athletes finished in the top 15 of their event.

Despite not having anyone on the podium, the meet itself was successful as 15 athletes set new Personal Records (PRs) at the event.

Cameron Martensen ran 1:04 in the final lap to close the distance and move into 4th place while setting the new school record in the 3200m.

The highlight of the event was when Sr. Cameron Martensen set a new school record in the 3200m with a time of  9:04.05. He broke a record he already owned by 10 seconds that he set last April at the Kansas Relays. Martensen has signed to run at Grand Valley State upon graduation.

In the Discuss, Sr. Nash Robinson narrowly missed a medal as he finished 4th in the event with a throw of 44.83m. His teammate, Jr. Tucker Sowers was close behind finishing 6th with a throw of 43.84. Both of those throws were PRs.

Freshman Trenton Earl set a new PR in the pole fault.
