When a program must replace 11 seniors, expectations of wins and losses shift to match the new look. Nine games into the season and the Lady Bulldogs are still seeking their first win.
Head Coach Matt Calvert discussed the inexperience of his soccer team on Inside the Huddle. He stated that the team's strategy would shift the focus from an aggressive attacking style to a defensive overload.
The learning curve was evident early as the Lady Bulldogs allowed 6.4 goals per game in their first 5 games of the season. However, in the last 4 games they have shown stark improvement in allowing only 3 goals per game.
As we wrote at the beginning of the season, this team’s success will not be found in wins and losses but in growth in the players and the team.
The shots on goal have increased the second half of the season as well which is a great sign as they prepare for the next contest against the Camdenton Lady Lakers on Wednesday the 22nd at Kiwanis Field.
This will be the best opportunity for the Lady Bulldogs to rack up some goals and get their first win of the season.
While the Lady Bulldogs have yet to score a goal, Camdenton has only scored in three of their games this season and has allowed 4 goals per game.
Rolla has won the last four match-ups between the two teams and six of the last seven.
