The Freshmen and JV Bulldog teams started the night off right for the Rolla Bulldogs Boys basketball program with both getting victories over the St. Francis Borgia Knights. The Varsity team finished off the sweep in the night cap.
The JV Bulldogs Take Down the Knights 36-27
While it was a low scoring game, the Bulldog JV team was able to get points from 7 different players on their way to their 10th victory of the season. Coach Josh Vinyard was pleased with the effort and continued growth of his JV team. “It was a very good team win with lots of players playing their role well.”
The Knights came out firing from deep to start the game with Connor Brown hitting three 3-pointers early in the game. Coach Vinyard made the decision to put Cruz Wilkins on the shooter in an attempt at slowing him down. The 5’9” So guard Wilkins accepted the challenge and proceeded to hold him scoreless the rest of the game. Beside locking down the shooter, Vinard was also impressed with Wilkins' composure on the offensive side of the ball, “he handled the ball in a very physical game”
While the first half ended tied at 18, the Bulldogs took control in the second half to secure the win. The Bulldogs were once again led by 6’0” Jr guard James Scheck with 13 points on the night, including 3 from beyond the arc.5’8” So guard Logan Litz knocked down two 3 balls as well for 6 points.
Vineyard recognized the inside game of 6’2” So forward Aaron Stallworth. “Aaron finished well around the rim and did a great job controlling defensive boards around the basket.”
Coach Vinyard is looking to close out the season strong with wins in their final two games to finish above .500 for the season.
